Unique Opportunities For Housebuilders

Affordable Housing Design & Construction Innovation Project Offers Unique Opportunities For Developers And Housebuilders

Housebuilders, developers and MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) system manufacturers are invited to register their interest in a unique partnership proposal being considered by Fife Council and the Fife Housing Association Alliance.

The proposal is based on the development of a range of innovative MMC house systems which could be developed for affordable housing.

The idea is to procure up to 9 different innovative house systems to be developed on part of a site in the Dunfermline area. Up to 22 units will be built on the 9 serviced plots with the aim of testing different systems that could potentially be mainstreamed as part of future affordable housing programmes.

Derek Muir, Head of Housing and Neighbourhood Services at Fife Council commented "In order to deliver our broader housing objectives of meeting housing needs and improving the energy efficiency of housing, this project will be a good way of evaluating the cost and energy performance of a number of new systems and will assist the construction industry itself to showcase new and innovative products."

The systems will be procured by Kingdom Housing Association, as the Lead Developer for the Alliance. Bill Banks, Project Manager for the partnership proposal and Depute Chief Executive with Kingdom said “We continually hear from developers who have new house systems that could be developed for affordable housing and this could provide the opportunity for the manufacturers / developers to showcase their system. The proposal is still at outline stage and the intention would be to select the preferred partners who will form part of the project partnering team.”

To register an interest in this project, the system should be registered before Monday 21st February 2011. Registration of interest forms can be requested fromdevelopment@kingdomhousing.org.uk
